With the sunrise being at 6:30am or even sooner, I can leave early to work and have a fair amount of time to do some shooting. I am still struggling with improving my macro techniques, I often just get plain lucky. Thin depth of field is soemthing I have to live with, even at small apertures. With or without the 500D, the 70-300mm VR works like a champ for nature work.
