Have you had enough of fog?

I don't know if it's just my diligence in catching the best light or maybe we have had more fog this summer than I can ever recall, but I am having a lot of fun capturing it all. I took the Sigma 50-150mm for a short spin with the D40, yesterday, I found this framed in my viewfinder. One of the few shortcomings of the teeny D40 is its AF is not too great in poor light and often can't find focus - I did get it to work after some tweaking.

Fall colors in the summer?

I guess it's no big surprise how the seasons seem to be starting at off-times these days, certainly not what we are used to seeing. I have already found some vibrant autumn colors in my travels such as can be seen with these images. Although I love the fall, it's just too early to start taking photos..........

Moroni

For any faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Moroni is a symbol of the ushering in of this gospel dispensation. His figurine adorns all our temples, and the golden color is even more symbolic to us.

I left early enough, today, to photograph the temple in early-morning bathing light, I knew the combination of Moroni's golden hue and the blue sky would look nice. This was the first real good opportunity I have had to shoot anything temple-related with my Nikon DSLR gear, the light has to be just right. D80 and AF-S 70-300mm VR.

Backlight

One of my favorite types of light is when it comes through opaque objects such as leaves, usually during early-morning shooting. I you get the exposure correct (and with the help of Nikon's D-Lighting), you can preserve shadow details such as shown these files.

Late-evening grab shot

I was coming home from Bridgewater one night about a week ago, I could see the sunset might be quite nice, and I arrived at the head of New Germany lake to find I had just missed it - the afterglow presented me with a couple fishing in a boat. I guessed the exposure was 1/250th @ f/5.6 and the D80 and Sigma 50-150mm did the rest, plus some judicious PP with colors and effective cropping.

I see yellow

I took these images some time ago, the NEF's have been kept on my desktop and it's time to put them into a blog. Yellow is one of those very warm colors that I find grabs my eye almost as much as red. I guess I am a "warm" person, photographically.

Nothing difficult about getting either the buses at Silver's Garage nor the fresh paint at the Sobeys parking lot, I just had my camera bag with me as I always do........

School is beckoning after a short summer.
