I decided to take the D40 and Sigma 50-150mm for a walk. The lens isn't a featherweight by any stretch but it's light enough to be decent for walk arounds. Evening light is always the best and it gets perfect just before the sun disappears. Tonight's theme seemed to be about planes and those who fly them.
Bah, I did notice a few specs of debris that have migrated on the D40's sensor (fixed up in NX2), such is the life of a DSLR owner.
